About Me

After practicing law for several years in downtown Vancouver, I started my own law firm to deliver the best quality of service to my family law clients. I founded Mills Family Law on a philosophy of service. This first and foremost means listening carefully to my clients to fully understand their needs. My approach is centered around creating long-lasting solutions, while always putting my client’s best case forward.

I am passionate about understanding and telling your story. I advise my clients on all family law matters, including separation and divorce, child and spousal support, property division, parenting arrangements and adoptions. For my clients who are parents, my goal is always to promote stability, minimize conflict, and develop foundations for a cooperative future. I also work hard to protect my clients by working with the very best forensic accountants and business valuators to ensure that income and family assets are neither hidden nor undervalued.

While I advocate for my clients at every level of court in British Columbia, including Provincial and Supreme Court trials and at the Court of Appeal, I also encourage mediation whenever appropriate. Out-of-court solutions generally offer a much more satisfactory result for both spouses. In my practice, I find time and again that respectful and persuasive communication often makes the difference between costly litigation and a negotiated settlement. I am a qualified Collaborative Lawyer.

I live with my wife and children in North Vancouver. When not in the office, I enjoy time with family and friends while exploring the mountains and coastlines of our beautiful province.
